Not long after I wrote the previous post, I looked at my foot again. The bleeding was pretty bad. It appears I was unknowingly bleeding onto my office chair, which explains the bloody track marks on the floor. The blood got onto my chair's wheels.
Those weren't the only blood spots, either. |
I was thinking of changing my bandage more frequently than once per hour:
My Korean coworker told me they sold blood-stopper powder at the pharmacies downstairs (our building has two pharmacies). I told him I could go pick it up, but he insisted on going.
Brand name: Niramide-san... for cuts, scrapes, and... sores? In the West, this product goes by many names: BleedStop, WoundSeal, BloodSTOP, etc. |
This product, also called blood-clotting powder, is supposed to gum up a wound. In the States, it's often used by medics on the ground as a way to quickly stop bleeding from large wounds so as to stabilize a patient for transport to the ER. It has the consistency of talcum powder, and it's supposed to turn into gel upon contact with blood. Unfortunately, like talcum powder, it tends to get all over the place.
As I was blood-stopping my wound, I was still dripping onto the floor:
Despite the blood stopper, this is how my toe looked after lunch:
There's less bleeding, so maybe I can afford to wait a bit before changing my dressing again (and reapplying the blood stopper). I'm no longer freaked out by the profuse bleeding so much as I'm mad at that quack of a doctor for slicing me open (blood thinners might be playing a role, too). Bizarrely, my boss thinks I should go back to the same hospital in two weeks. He thinks I should definitely tell the doc what happened last time. For me, though, when it comes to unforgivable actions, you get only one chance. Maybe I can forgive you eventually, but I'll never trust you again. As the expression goes: I can forgive, but I won't forget.

ADDENDUM: a humorous thought came to me. Someone looks at these blog posts and says, "Damn, that looks bad. You should go see a doctor."
