yeah—why is that?

Quite the opposite, Democrats want as many immigrants as possible to enter the US, legally and illegally, probably because they assume illegals, in particular, are ripe to become Democrat voters. But if you've been following the Latin phenomenon lately, you know that the Latin voter base has been "curdling," with more and more Latinos openly espousing conservative values (traditional family, religion, etc.) and also resenting the presence of illegals in their midst, thus causing them to vote more conservatively. This Latin phenomenon used to be restricted to Cuban expats in Florida, but it has spread across the US. So if Democrats are banking on building a Democrat base by bringing in a bunch of immigrants with conservative values, those Dems might be in for an ugly surprise.

I'm reminded of the Catholic demographic. American Catholics have been trending liberal for a long time, which is hilarious given the Church's stance on issues like abortion. But because of a years-long priest shortage, the American wing of the Catholic Church has had to bring in priests from third-world countries. Result: third-world priests preaching socially conservative values from the pulpit to liberal Catholics in the pews who don't want to hear this message. I'd say that I feel some Schadenfreude about this, but my own church, the PCUSA, is an internal mess, too, albeit for different reasons, so I don't really have room to sneer.

  1. The EU and UK opened their borders and got flooded with immigrants from the Middle East. And now they are paying the price--cities with no-go zones rife with violent crime, child grooming, and all those other "cultural" differences inherent in an unassimilated population.
