possible correction

I used Naver Map's ruler tool to calculate the exact distance of the walks I do from work to the Jamshil Bridge to my place, and the ruler told me the distance was only 14 km. I've used the ruler to calculate the distance of that same route before, and I could've sworn I'd gotten a distance of 17K in the past. So maybe I goofed when I did the calculation previously, or maybe I goofed this time around. I don't know. My inner distance-conservatism pushes me to think the smaller figure is more likely correct, but I'll have to run the calculation a few more times to be sure. I don't want to take credit for doing 17K if I'm doing only 14K in reality.

Kevin,

Have you ever tried any of the satellite based apps out there? (e.g. All Trails, or the one that John Mac uses to chart his walks). I have found those to be pretty accurate when it comes to distance..

The Google Maps app has a similar function, which I used for a brief while, but then it started to make me nervous about how it was recording all my comings and goings. I got paranoid and deleted the Maps app from my phone. A former coworker of mine, a cyclist, relied on the Strava app, which he swore by. I'll think about getting an app again, but no guarantees.

Yeah, the app I use is Map My Walk. Google can track me if they want; I ain't got nothin' to hide...
