My 12-pack of Diet Dr. Pepper came, or as they're calling it now, Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar. I paid an arm and a leg to get this, and I've got other diet drinks on the way, like Fresca and Diet Cherry Coke. I had myself a can of the Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar tonight, and damn, was it good. No, I'm not sorry. Yes, I'm aware of the cephalic reaction (see here and scroll down). But the thing has zero grams of carbs and zero calories, and while I think Coach Greg Doucette is sometimes a raving maniac, I respect his position on diet drinks, which is that you'd have to tank up on over 57 cans of Diet Coke before the chemicals in it really harmed you. I plan to work my way very slowly through these diet sodas, but I'm glad to have them, at least temporarily, in my arsenal.

Yeah, I made the switch to zero sugar soft drinks years ago (before it was cool) and was always surprised that you continued to drink sugary beverages until recently, and then went almost entirely cold turkey. I think in moderation the no carbs/no sugar drinks will satisfy your sweet tooth and keep you on track with your diet. Wish I could find zero Dr. Pepper here, sounds good! Coke Zero (I have 3 or 4 a day) is getting boring.
ReplyDeleteI used to take the M bus from Songdo to Seoul once a month to stock up on diet Dr. Pepper. The Foreign Market in Itaewon up past Hooker Hill usually had it.
