Styx warns that it'd be nice to see Musk somehow clean Twitter up and reinstate Twitter-banned folks like Alex Jones, Stephan Molyneux, Milo Yiannopoulos, James O'Keefe, and Donald Trump, but we really shouldn't expect much movement on that front. Might be better for Musk simply to use Twitter as a way to earn more money for his other projects, then to cast it aside and let it die. As for Musk now owning 9.2% of Twitter, well, that makes him the biggest shareholder, perhaps, but it doesn't mean he's got a controlling interest (10% of voting stock is the threshold, one source says; other sources say a majority of voting stock and/or a position on the board). Then there's the idea that Musk might engage in swamp-draining by firing woke staffers and replacing them with sane people. I'd argue that that's never going to happen: Twitter's admin is too entrenched; the swamp runs deep, and even with former CEO Jack Dorsey now belatedly expressing remorse at being "partially" responsible for the current sorry state of the internet and of online discourse, that remorse isn't going to translate into anything concrete. For us proles, it's better simply to abandon Twitter and let it wither. I left in 2016, right before Trump got elected, and life's been better ever since.

Well, he is on the Board now. If he manages to at least moderate the attacks on free speech, that's a good thing. I'm not on Twitter either, but there is no denying its influence in shaping public opinions. Let all sides be heard!
