At a recent trip to Costco, I saw two kitchen devices that filled me with lust: (1) an Instant Pot, and (2) a smokeless grill. My first priority immediately became to get myself the Instant Pot, but after watching a Joshua Weissman video, yesterday, about indoor Korean-style meat-grilling, I think the smokeless grill is now more of a priority, and I want to throw a party for my friends in which I serve a ton of Korean beef, pork, fish, and whatever else I can think of. If the smokeless grill works the way I hope it ought to work, it should allay all my fears regarding setting off fire alarms. I remember once, in happier times, trying to set up a meal of samgyeopsal in our home in Virginia, but the smoke set off all the house's fire alarms, the noise of which blared across our entire neighborhood. I don't know what our neighbors thought, but I was mortified. Hopefully, with a smokeless grill, fire alarms ought to be a nonissue. Here's the Instant Pot (left-click, then right-click on the image and select "Open Image in New Tab" from the right-click menu to enlarge):
And here's the smokeless grill:
It's hard to see if you don't enlarge the images, but both items are fairly reasonably priced (these days, Costco is not always guaranteed to be your cheapest option—if it ever was). They seem bulky enough that I probably can't buy both in a single trip (unless my giant Costco bag can hold them), so I'm probably going to have to make two trips to purchase them. Upon closer inspection, though, I see that the box for the Instant Pot has a handle on it while the box for the smokeless grill does not. I might be able to make this a one-trip deal if I put the grill inside my giant Costco bag and use the Instant Pot box's handle to carry it out of the store and over to where I usually catch a cab home. Then there's the matter of where to put all this new equipment; I'm really running out of room in my tiny studio. I guess my next stop is Ikea, where I hope to buy some over-the-bed shelving (like this but sturdier).
Lust. I lust for these items.
Did you know that you can bake bread in an Instant Pot?
Grill party? Where do I sign up?
