dirty tricks (but easy to see through): hiding negative reviews

Gaslighting comes in many forms, and an increasing number of entities—ranging from political to professional—are doing what they can to manipulate information and influence to keep people from seeing certain harsh realities. In politics, you've got the feckless Biden administration doing this regarding the sorry state of the nation, but it's also happening in the movie/video realm. Perpetually angry Ryan Kinel has been relentlessly on the case regarding Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" series, and now he notes that sites like IMDb are deleting bad ratings and reviews in an effort to portray "Rings of Power" as a success while calling the series's detractors bigots and trolls.
