The little elves have been busy on the bike paths, clearing away the downed foliage, sweeping aside the thick layer of silt from the recent flood, and generally making things more walkable. No major repairs of sinkholes or downed fences, but as you see below, some of the signs and other Things On Tall Posts are no longer collapsed or leaning drunkenly:

The spider-usurper is still in her place. She has neighbors, now, all of the same species, and they've all set up shop well away from her and each other. Their webs sit within the light beam of a nearby lamppost's lamp, which may explain why the hunting is so good: insects are attracted to the light. Too bad for them, I guess.

My walk last night took me out to the Jamshil Bridge and back—about 215 minutes starting from work. I also ate next to nothing yesterday as a way to clear my intestines after a brutal birthday. I was on the shitter several times after eating as much as I did on my birthday; the luncheon was on Wednesday, and today, my coworker's wife made burritos (well, tacos*) for us, so I'm at it again. And to complete the triple-whammy, I'm meeting up with my buddy Charles again tomorrow to continue exploring the menu of California Kitchen. It's been a Tex-Mex-themed week, and I'll be ordering tacos (along with God know what else) tomorrow. Today, I think, will be an OMAD day: just the one meal, then fast until tomorrow's dinner.
In the meantime, our all-beneficent company gave us a Chuseok gift of apples plus Asian pears (the package said 사과배 혼합 세트/sagwa-bae-honhap-seteu, so I initially wondered whether this meant "pear-apple," which is a term I've heard used for Asian pears, but 혼합/honhap actually means "mixed" in this context, so this was an apple/pear assortment). Every year, the gift is always too much to eat before everything rots, so I need to get creative about what to make. I've decided to make that pineapple apple pie again—maybe twice, with one to bring to Charles tomorrow and one to bring to work for the troops. I hadn't wanted to begin September with a string of cheats days (and I'm already looking and feeling bloated after two days of revelry), but I'll just buckle down the rest of the month and try to be ready for my Jeju trip on the 28th.
Pics of today's meal coming up!

*The original idea was supposed to be burritos, but my coworker brought in these rice-flour tortillas that, while they tasted no different from wheat-flour tortillas, had a very fragile consistency even after heating (rice has no gluten, so rice tortillas are inherently structurally weaker), making it impossible to do the necessary fold-in-the-sides maneuver that is essential to forming a burrito. So instead, I simply made tacos with what was on hand. Still delicious.
