Anti-cop Minnesota Democratic party official left bloodied in violent carjacking — now calls for tougher crime laws

Shivanthi Sathanandan

A Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party official who once vowed to “dismantle” the Minneapolis Police Department is now calling for tougher crime laws after she was beaten and bloodied in a carjacking outside of her home this week.

Shivanthi Sathanandan, the Second Vice Chairwoman for the DFL, shared news of her attack in a Wednesday Facebook post, where she fumed that the four young suspects need to be brought to justice.

“I have a broken leg, deep lacerations on my head, bruising and cuts all over my body. And I have rage,” wrote Sathanandan, who said the beating occurred in front of her 4-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son at around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

“These men knew what they were doing. I have NO DOUBT they have done this before. Yet they are still on OUR STREETS. Killing mothers. Giving babies psychological trauma that a lifetime of therapy cannot ease. With no hesitation and no remorse,” Sathanandan continued.

Included in the post was a selfie of Sathanandan, showing blood pouring down the right side of her face.

“I’m now part of the statistics. I wasn’t silent when I fought these men to save my life and my babies, and I won’t be silent now. We need to get illegal guns off of our streets, catch these young people who are running wild creating chaos across our city and HOLD THEM IN CUSTODY AND PROSECUTE THEM,” she said.

I don't mind her message to "get illegal guns off the street" (my emphasis). Just keep the hell away from legal guns. And while I'm sympathetic to the fact that she was attacked, I do have to smirk at how it takes something like this to get a thickheaded leftist to understand reality. She says she "wasn't silent" while fighting off the attackers, but she was definitely silent when the police and supporters of the Second Amendment could have used her voice. She also advocates "hold"ing the perpetrators of these crimes "in custody." Good fucking luck doing that in a soft-on-crime legal system, lady. As I just said elsewhere, you reap what you sow. Learn a goddamn lesson from this; fight against catch-and-release "justice"; advocate for more police, legal gun ownership, and firearms training; learn about situational awareness and self-defense... show that you've grown from this experience.

ADDENDUM: I invited the Instapundit crowd to come take a look at this entry, and several people pointed out some suspicious aspects to this story. Is that real blood? Why, if she has a broken leg, is she posing to take a selfie? Why is her description of her attackers a rather vague "men"? Could she be pulling a Jussie Smollett? I had wondered about the posed nature of her photograph as well, but I hadn't taken my mental line of questioning to the point of "she's faking it." I wouldn't be surprised, though, to discover this all might be a hoax. We'll see. She can defend herself by releasing hospital records proving her leg had been broken.

In case you're coming over from Instapundit: be aware that I have a comments policy, which is that no anonymous comments are permitted (see my sidebar, which of course no one reads). I'm sorry if this is a burden to you, but I'm not asking for your real name or anything. A screen name/alias is fine as long as you don't start sock-puppeting. I just deleted a perfectly good, perfectly civil comment. This makes me feel bad every time I do it, but I have to be fair. The comments policy is located right above the commenting window, so there's really no excuse to miss it. I hope that's clear. If you can't figure out how to enter a screen name as you're logging in to leave a comment, you can just append your name/alias to the bottom of your response.
