Singer Jimmy Buffet is dead at age 76, having "passed away peacefully" while surrounded by loved ones. I'm not giving this a full-on ululate! because—no offense—Buffet was so utterly peripheral to my childhood that the only song of his I know off the bat is "Margaritaville." That's it. I'm sorry to hear he's gone, and I send my condolences to his family and friends.

I wasn't a big fan, but I enjoyed his music now and again. I think one of the first songs I remember hearing was "Come Monday," an autobiographical tune about his days on the road before becoming a star. If I recall correctly, he married that woman he sings about and spent his life with her. Also became a billionaire. So, it did turn out alright.
