once more unto the breach: "Star Trek Into Darkness"

I think I was one of the people who, early on, was seduced by JJ Abrams's razzle-dazzle, lens-flare-heavy style of movie-making, with explosions going off left and right and people frantically running everywhere. I don't recall being all that harsh in my reviews of either 2009's "Star Trek" or 2013's "Star Trek Into Darkness." But as history has proven, JJ Abrams makes films that, like cotton candy, are sweet going down but leave you empty—and a little betrayed—as you think about what you just consumed. I was an Abrams cynic by the time 2019's "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" came out. And since 2013, a whole cottage industry has arisen on YouTube, composed of people whose sole purpose in life is to spread their massive ass cheeks and take a steaming dump on JJ Abrams. The man deserves every lump of shit that lands on him. Below is Irish vlogger Dave Cullen, adding to the pile:
