what happens when you concentrate exclusively on your roundhouse kick?

This was strangely fascinating to me. I've never seen this sort of detailed breakdown of the various uses of a roundhouse kick before. That said, this kick tutorial was quite compelling.

My take, as someone who did taekwondo as a kid and continues to have some interest in fighting arts, is that kicks during real fights are not recommended unless (1) you've got a good idea of your opponent's capabilities and (2) you really know what you're doing. I've seen innumerable examples of people using kicks to knock opponents out, so I know it can be done, but in a real street fight, you're better off not risking the possibility of having your foot or leg trapped because, once you're trapped, you're basically fucked.
