I don't think my Canadian friend Brian has been around my blog for a long time, but I had posed him a question, years ago, about a particular bird whose cooing I was always hearing here in Korea. We couldn't come up with the bird's name—mainly because I was unable to describe the bird's coo adequately—but after reading this post by Lorianne just now, it came to me: mourning dove. The bird I'm hearing is the Korean variant of that species.
Here's the dove's coo. The Korean bird's rhythm is slightly different.
