The main problem is not media glorification of killers or "safe spaces."
ReplyDeleteThis is the essential problem: Diversity + proximity = conflict.
This video is just another instance of controlled opposition. We will never be able to improve reality if we are unable to talk about it realistically.
Let's assume you're right that the fundamental problem resides at a deeper level than Noir indicates in his video. Even if that's true, I don't think it invalidates many or most of Noir's criticisms. He might be guilty of not killing the evil tree by attacking its roots, but there's still some benefit in taking an axe to the trunk.
ReplyDeleteAs to the question of diversity in particular, I'm not sure what the best solution is. If the problem is that diversity + proximity = conflict, we could solve this issue by either (a) reducing/eliminating diversity or (b) nullifying proximity. How do we implement either of these solutions in a way that maximizes flourishing? The approach for (a) might take the form of, say, shipping out ethnicities that refuse to assimilate and refuse to embrace the country's basic values, but once we start on that path, how do we know where to stop? The approach for (b) might involve redistricting ethnicities so as to create full-on balkanization. But is that really desirable? Do we want ethnicities boxed into their own little enclaves, there to form their own distorted views of the Other via incestuous amplification? (And hasn't this been happening, anyway, as we see whenever we pass by a Koreatown, or a Chinatown, or Little Italy, etc.?)
I'd like to know what the best solution to the "diversity + proximity = conflict" problem is, but I lack imagination. Insights?
The Democratic Party is currently valorizing MS-13 gangsters, sanctuary cities and Open Borders. They don't believe in the concept of a nation. It's pure nihilism and unsustainable.
ReplyDeleteWe could start with an immigration pause as we have done in the past, and which a majority of Americans support. We could then stop spending over $100 billion per year subsidizing illegal aliens with public benefits, which is effectively a wealth transfer from the American taxpayer to corporations, and enforce E-Verify rigorously. That would be a good start, but it's not going to happen as the oligarchs in charge of the US will make sure it doesn't.
If you look into the Parkland shooting, you find that it was the result of the Obama Administration attempting to even out the supposed "disparate impact" of black and Latino students being disproportionately charged with disciplinary incidents at schools (Cruz would not have been able to purchase firearms if his schools had reported his many disciplinary problems to the police, as would have happened prior to the Obama Administration's "PROMISE" Program). In other words, the Parkland shooting was not a result of American's "gun problem," but rather an effect of our reigning cult of equality.
Mass school shootings have only been a phenomenon since the 1990s. America has had a strong gun culture since its inception. Do the math.
This will not end well as Americans no longer wish to look at reality honestly and directly. Well, we've had a good run.

ReplyDeleteYeah, it's crazy, and it's going to lead to Trump's reelection, or at least to a drubbing during the midterms this year.

Yes. This is a point that Noir made in his video.
