Mom would've been 79 this year. Alas, she didn't make it past 66. Can't say that I was an exemplary son while she was alive, and I'm not sure I've done her proud since. She deserved a better son, and she deserved a better fate than brain cancer. But you play the hand you're dealt, I guess. I know there are people who say they live lives without regret, but I don't mind confessing I have many regrets, particularly regarding things I could have done better.
I'll try harder tomorrow.
For all we ought to have thoughtbut have not thoughtFor all we ought to have saidbut have not saidFor all we ought to have donebut have not doneI pray thee, God, for forgiveness—Ibn Fadlan, "The Thirteenth Warrior"
A mother's love is unconditional. You were there for her when she needed you most. She lives on in your heart and memories. Living your best life is a great way to honor her. Thanks for sharing this heartfelt birthday tribute.
