We're back, baby.
With no one else in our little office today, and with me waking up around 11-ish (I usually crawl into bed around sunrise, so I get about the same six hours of sleep as the rest you do... said he defensively), I decided to get the phone-repair errand over with.
The Samsung office wasn't crowded at all this time, so I got helped within five minutes of taking a number. The actual, physical repair—done right there on the spot by the technician—took about twenty minutes. It occurred to me that, in the US or Europe, I'd probably be told to come back in three business days or something. Korea has problems and inefficiencies, but it can also sometimes be blazingly fast with some types of service, and phone repair is apparently one of those types. The repair cost me around W175,000: I had to have the entire screen replaced, after all, and it's something like a W600,000 phone, so the cost wasn't exactly a surprise. After I left, I realized I'd forgotten to ask the guy to put on one of those thin, plastic, screen-protecting covers. I'll either order one from Coupang and apply it myself, or I'll crawl back to the Samsung office and request one.
So here's Phonception 2, with a new screen:
Here's hoping I don't trip and smash my phone again anytime soon. The cost of repair is W175,000 for the screen and four or five weeks to heal scraped knuckles. Meanwhile, I can now go back to playing Sudoku without any annoyances.
