The MAGA wing of the GOP can't stand Ronna Romney McDaniel, whom they see as a neocon RINO, just like Nikki Haley. Meanwhile, the impeachment effort against Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, has predictably failed despite his disastrous "leadership" at the border because Republicans don't have the testicular fortitude to fight with any conviction.* Happily, Ronna McDaniel will finally be stepping down from her position as RNC chair, and Mayorkas, meanwhile, will be sitting in the catbird seat, to use an old expression.

BREAKING: Ronna McDaniel to step down as RNC chair
Beleaguered RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel** is reportedly intending to step down. Donald Trump, who has been vocal about the need for changes at the RNC, is likely to back Michael Watley, who currently heads the North Carolina GOP.
McDaniel told Trump she was planning to step down in advance of South Carolina's Republican primary on February 24, The New York Times reports. That contest will see Nikki Haley face off against Trump in her home state. An election will have to be held for the new chair.
McDaniel has been under pressure for months to step down after she failed to deliver the promised red wave in 2022. Recent reports about the RNC's excessive spending also came out, putting further pressure on her to step down.
Her chief of staff stepped down earlier on Tuesday. "I know the timing of this news comes as many rumors in the press swirl and we prepare to merge with the presumptive nominee. I assure you, the RNC is in an incredibly strong position," Mike Reed said. He will also be stepping down later this month.

Mayorkas Impeachment Fails Thanks to Three RINOs
In the closest vote possible, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas escaped impeachment thanks to three RINOs. The House voted 214-216, failing to impeach Mayorkas.
RINOs Mike Gallagher, Ken Buck, and Tom McClintock voted “Nay” with Steve Scalise unable to vote due to health concerns. The fourth Republican “Nay” vote was Blake Moore who changed his vote in a strategic move to allow a future vote on the issue once Scalise returns.
Why didn't the voters vote the RINOs out in 2020? The entire electorate, Democrat, Republican, and otherwise, is mind-bogglingly stupid. At a guess, people don't really look into the issues, don't research the effectiveness and conviction of candidates, and vote purely on feelings. As Bill Maher said about Gavin Newsom, "He's a winner; he's got a set of balls." But when pressed by Patrick Bet-David on how he's improved California, nada. No substance. And the average voter is really no different.
__________
*They also simply don't know how to fight.
**And to the same geniuses who keep spelling his name "Gavin Newsome," with that unnecessary "E," note that it's Ronna McDaniel, no "S." Not "McDaniels." Got that? We'll see soon enough who's paying attention. Styx obviously isn't, but he's language-impaired, anyway.
