The great Carl Weathers is dead at 76. We all remember his flamboyant Apollo Creed from several Rocky films, his Dillon from "Predator," and his recent Greef Karga in "The Mandalorian," at least one episode of which he very competently directed. (In my review of "The Mandalorian," I wrote about how his character had a sit-up-and-take-notice moment.) We should also note that Weathers did a 70s-throwback action movie called "Action Jackson," opposite the improbably villainous Craig T. Nelson. The man was a talented actor and director, and easily one of the more likable screen presences. I'll miss him.
Godspeed, Carl. RIP.
A true icon during my childhood. Thankfully, he will be remembered.
ReplyDeleteAnother loss is that of William O'Connell. He was in several Clint Eastwood movies, most notably as the ferry man in "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and the fake Andorian poisoned knife stabber of Kirk in "Journey to Babel" on "Star Trek."
