Russell Brand's point was that, given the current war, the US left has been in blackout mode, doing what it can to keep the American public from hearing a different side of the debate. In more peaceful times, as you see from the meme above, leftie "journalists" spoke with Putin with some frequency. He was their friend then. How times change, eh?
