I woke up to good news this morning: the Catholic University of Daegu is offering me a job. I received the following email:
Dear Kevin,
I'm writing this email to offer you the teaching position at our university. Simeon and I enjoyed the interview a lot even though the connection was not very good.
It seems that you will be a good addition to our program.
Mr. P, who is an administration staff in Foreign Language Education Center at CUD, will tell you what documents you should prepare for the employment process.
I am looking forward to working with you.
Best regards,
[Professor Y]
I'm elated. I feel I've got something to live for. I emailed my contact, Scott, at Daegu Haany University to see whether DHU was any closer to hiring me; I told Scott that if I didn't hear back from DHU in 24-36 hours, I would accept CUD's job offer. To be honest, I'd rather be working at DHU, but I'm sincerely happy to have been engaged by CUD, despite the school's bovine acronym. In the eyes of the ROK government, I'm gonna be a professor!
There seems to be little point in making the interview video for Gachon University now. I know I won't hear back from GU for at least a week; meanwhile, the clock is ticking. I'll need to send CUD an "I accept!" email within the next day or so.
