I broke carnivore, last night, when I grabbed myself a big handful of nuts (not testicles). I had lapses during the Newcastle diet as well, but last night, I just needed a break from all the damn protein. Part of me is fine with eating piles of meat, but another part of me craves more variety. I dunno. I'll be eating seafood next, and we'll see whether that introduces enough of a change to keep me from getting bored. Today's meal was more beef (I'm not following my laid-out calendar at all); this was a nice, sirloin-y cut of thinly sliced solid meat that cooked up quickly in the frying pan. I ate the beef with butter sauce and chimichurri, being careful not to mix the two sauces. Had a plateful for lunch and will have another plateful for dinner.
Frankly, I'm beginning to think I might be more of a CICO man than a CIM man. The Newcastle diet, at 800 calories per day, was highly effective at getting my weight down, and it could well be that I've been cursed with such a slow metabolism that only severe caloric restriction will continue the process of weight loss. I'll wait until this weekend to see what my numbers are (BP is not looking good lately), but if carnivore isn't working for me, then I might just switch back to Newcastle. We'll see.
Overall, though, this has probably been my most carb-restricted week. Monday (according to MyFitnessPal) saw me at 23 grams of carbs. Tuesday, I was at only 2 grams. Wednesday, I was at 2 grams again. Today, I'm at 27 grams thanks to the nuts, which I ate after midnight. That's a four-day average of 13.5 grams of carbs, which is insanely low. I'm thinking of just fasting on Saturday, then measuring my numbers on Sunday morning before having my cheat day.
This is, frankly, a weird phase in my dieting adventure. I'm still flailing around, trying to figure out the best, most sustainable way to move forward. A lot depends on whether carnivore produces any results. I'll definitely need more than a single week to find that out.
