Are they all over Seoul, or did this stand out because of its rarity? I can't remember the last time I've seen a phone booth. When I moved to Seoul in 2005, I remember noticing them because they were already mostly gone back in the USA. I also seem to recall that the ones in Itaewon, at least, were often broken/non-functioning. I expect there can't be much profit margin in the payphone business these days.
ReplyDeleteI've seen phone booths scattered around Seoul, so they're very much still a thing. Maybe kids too young to have cell phones use them. Or drug dealers. I don't know.
