Round 2

Donald Trump has made his announcement, and it's what we already knew: he will be running in 2024. It's enough to make one wonder how broken the electoral system must be if Trump is saying he'll run, i.e., that he'll stay within the confines of the system. After all the talk of fraud and election-rigging (much of which I subscribe to because there are too many nonsensical things—from this year's election and from 2020— for which there can be only one explanation), Trump's decision to run implies that he thinks the system hasn't shipped enough water to be unworkable. Interesting. Right now, I think the greatest step forward would be for all the blue states to adopt the Florida model that DeSantis has provided: make mail-in/absentee voting difficult or nearly impossible and encourage in-person voting. Confine Election Day to a single 24-hour period—all vote counts done by midnight. No more Election Week or Election Month. This is getting out of hand. I would add that the vote-counting process should be made as open to the public as possible. Utter transparency everywhere. If we are to restore trust in the system then, as they say, sunlight is the best disinfectant.

I normally ignore Sean Hannity, whom I consider a pompous blowhard, here he is, commenting on Donald Trump's decision to run in 2024:

Watch this space for more videos once my regular go-to commentators, like Styx and Tim Pool, have their say.

Oh, about Tim Pool: he's been pushing back against the fraud narrative. I utterly disagree with him on this, but there's also a chance that the emerging election-analysis camps are talking past each other. Pool's point, which he's made repeatedly in recent days, is that it's not so much fraud as it is the systems in place. Get rid of the stuff I mentioned above—dragging vote counts, mail-in/absentee voting, all things currently allowed by the system—and you'll see a change in vote results. I think this is why there's a chance that Pool and his adversaries are talking past each other: one side is saying The system is rigged! while the other side is saying Get rid of the fraud! These are similar ideas, but they're not the same. The way I'm coming to see it, fraud is part of how the system is rigged. It's not an either/or proposition.

Stay tuned: more videos to come.

ADDENDUM: from the Genesius Times

World stunned to hear a US president form complete sentences for the first time in years

Viewers around the world were shocked and stunned to hear a president make coherent points and form complete sentences for the first time in years as President Trump announced his bid to run for president in 2024.

Trump, who is still millions of Americans’ president spoke to the crowd and did not call a lid or poop his pants at any time during the hour-long speech.

ADDENDUM 2: here's Styx's take:

ADDENDUM 3: Tim Pool has a long, three-hour video about Trump's announcement as he banters back and forth with a guest in his studio (Daniel Miller), but I'm waiting for Pool's distilled video, which normally tips the scales at around 30-some minutes. More soon.

Well, as I've said previously, I think we can do better than Trump, but if he is ultimately the nominee, I'll support him again. If he fails to get the nod, I hope he doesn't try to take his opponent (likely DeSantis) down with him. Knowing Trump, I expect the worst.
