Test run: I wore my newly mutilated sandals to work today. The main goal was to see whether relieving the pressure from my big toe would indeed relieve the bleeding... and as you see in the pic below, the answer seems to be yes.
I had wondered, at first, whether the tension of the sock against my toe might be enough, by itself, to coax the toe wound to bleed through my bandaging. Apparently not. So today was officially the first day in which I didn't leave any blood spots on my sock! I'd break out some sparkling wine to celebrate, but I've been fasting since Tuesday night in preparation for tomorrow's hospital visit. I'll be checking my numbers tonight and, if I remember to, tomorrow morning... although I might be in a rush tomorrow because I have to zoom by Costco at 8 a.m. before heading over to D&F Hospital for my 9:40 a.m. appointment.
stain = rainwater, not blood |
Below is the latest pic of my toe wound. I'm now keeping a record of how my toe heals so that the doctor can see the progress and make judgments. I hope he scrapes off the little bit of callus that re-formed around the wound, but the layer might be too thin to scrape off.
There seems to be, at best, only a tiny bit of improvement since last week, but it's hard for me to tell. I'll let the doc do all the looking and all the talking. Expect another report soon.
