artifice rules

Amala tackles the death of natural beauty:

I'm fairly libertarian about what you do to your body: if you're old enough to decide what to do, whether it be transgender surgery or some sort of body modification, then go with God and do what makes you happy. But that won't stop me from having an opinion on the matter, and I find most of these alterations to be among the stupidest of life-choices. Maybe someone with a cleft palate could benefit from a surgery, but that, at least, has a practical element. What about the rest of these stupid monkeys getting tatted up, or shaving bone off their noses, their jaws, and their cheekbones? I mean, go do it if you really want to, but don't go crying to the public with your post-surgical regret after you've done something so colossally stupid. You shat in your bed—now sleep in it.
