the old Biden vs. the older Biden

I suppose, charitably, we could say that people evolve.

But to evolve from 2006 to now? That's a quick evolution.

Well, goes both ways I suppose

President Trump in 2000 - "I am very pro choice"
again in 2000 - in favor of bans on assault weapons, background checks and waiting periods
again - "If you can’t take care of your sick in the country, forget it, it’s all over. . .So I’m very liberal when it comes to health care. . .I believe in universal health care. I believe in whatever it takes to make people well and better"
etc

But maybe, because it is President Trump, it doesn't fit the narrative. LOL

Is Trump an opportunist? I'd say he is. And I don't know how long you've been visiting my blog, but I've argued for years that Trump is basically a 90s Democrat. This is what scares half the Republican party, and it's why so many GOPers reflexively became Never Trumpers. America First, prioritizing a strong border with Mexico, being against free-trade agreements—these things were valued by Democrats in the Clinton era. The GOP has long been heavy into globalism, which provides large businesses and corporations with cheap labor—some would say slave labor. And it's not just righties who take advantage of globalism, especially in today's business climate: look at woke Apple in China, or any number of other woke American businesses in China (Nike comes to mind), all willing to overlook human-rights issues to make a buck. Even Elon Musk, whom many conservatives are now prepared to fellate, has plants and exhibition spaces in Shanghai and Xinjiang (where the concentration camps are).

Anyway, yeah, Trump stuck an R behind his name, and most left-liberals couldn't see past that, preferring to think Trump is now the Devil instead of the savior who's enacting the 90s Dem agenda. And he's changed his stance on things like gay marriage, etc., not because of any deep shift in his morals, but because it's politically convenient. Does that make him a hypocrite in that arena? Sure! And since I'm not a fan of Trump as a person, I'm fine with someone accusing him of hypocrisy.

So, I agree: Trump is a hypocrite on several counts. Arguing that fact is simply a tu quoque fallacy, though; it doesn't address or change the reality about Biden.
