Elton John leaves Twitter

[NB: read carefully. Don't confuse "Elton" with "Elon."]

You may have heard the news that Elton John had a hissy fit and decided to leave Twitter because of his hatred of both Elon Musk and supposed misinformation (what Elton really hates is freedom of speech; the left is by far the bigger misinformation factory). Musk apparently responded to Elton's announcement by saying, "I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?" I doubt Elton will respond because his complaint has no substance.

I'm left with mixed feelings. To see certain celebrities putting their money where their collective mouth is and actually leaving Twitter is something to respect. They didn't need to say they were leaving, of course; as one wit put it: This isn't an airport. You don't have to announce your departure. At the same time, I'm encouraged to see a Darwinian-style self-selection in progress: the unsavory folks who spread their own toxicity are leaving, now, because they're too sensitive to withstand any challenge to their point of view. To those whiners—whether they stay on Twitter or leave, but especially to those who are staying—I say, Welcome to the arena, bitches. You're going to have to use facts and logic now.
