Have you heard about the flap over a new hit country song* called "Try That in a Small Town"? Here are the lyrics, and guess who is addressing whom in this song:
Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya likeCuss out a cop, spit in his faceStomp on the flag and light it upYeah, ya think you're toughWell, try that in a small townSee how far ya make it down the roadAround here, we take care of our ownYou cross that line, it won't take longFor you to find out, I recommend you don'tTry that in a small townGot a gun that my granddad gave meThey say one day they're gonna round upWell, that shit might fly in the city, good luck
Try that in a small townSee how far ya make it down the roadAround here, we take care of our ownYou cross that line, it won't take longFor you to find out, I recommend you don'tTry that in a small townFull of good ol' boys, raised up rightIf you're looking for a fightTry that in a small townTry that in a small townTry that in a small townSee how far ya make it down the roadAround here, we take care of our ownYou cross that line, it won't take longFor you to find out, I recommend you don'tTry that in a small townTry that in a small townOoh-oohTry that in a small town
Nice to see that music can still inspire strong reactions, and all the people reacting negatively to this song are essentially outing themselves as exactly the sort of fuckers who'd be Darwin'ed out of existence in a small town. The song also lays out the fact that much of today's culture war centers on exactly this: rural values versus urban disvalues.
As our cities crumble thanks to the long failure of Democrat policies promoting socialistic economics and a soft-on-crime attitude, it's going to be up to the country folk to preserve the idea of a better America. The left can scream and shout all it wants about this song and its not-so-veiled threat to city miscreants and criminals, but the threat is out there now, and it can't be taken back. Go ahead and visit those small towns, city boy, but you'd best tread lightly while you're there.

*I generally hate most country music—at least the whiny, twangy stuff. But this song by Jason Aldean is all right, I guess. It doesn't make me wince, at least.
ADDENDUM: Styx weighs in, pointing out some of the song's flaws—
