walk to Niort: in and out of towns

I went into and out of towns like l'Ochette or l'Ouchette (I remember it sounded like, "Oh, shit!") and Magné.

Note, too, the photos of webs made by the French version of orb-weaver spiders. These were everywhere, but in the cold morning air, none of the spiders were at their posts.

Magné was bizarre because there was a trail marking that said I needed to go west to reach Niort, but Google Maps was telling me that Niort was a straight shot east along Route D9. I walked a few hundred yards west but felt that was the wrong way to go, so I then turned east and followed D9 all the way to Niort.
