and this is why I'm now worried for my little brother

Violence in Chicago and the surrounding area is spreading. Things are reaching a fever pitch, and my brother Sean is about to move to that part of the country. I admit I'm worried. Sean calls himself a libertarian, but it's fairer to say he's an out-and-out liberal. I don't think he's become one of those wild-eyed leftists who think the world will end in eleven years, but he's already at a stage where he calls President Trump a "bunker bitch" (based on the false propaganda that Trump has been hiding in a bunker the way Joe Biden has been hiding in a basement). I dearly hope that Sean's worldview doesn't get him hurt or killed. Highland Park may be 30-40 minutes away from Chicago's downtown by car, but the rioters seem to be spreading farther and farther outside of the cities. As I said, I'm worried. If anything were to happen to my little brother, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Unfortunately, liberal idealism sometimes gets people killed. Remember this naive couple?

ADDENDUM: Aftermath of looting in downtown Chicago: 13 cops injured, 2 people shot, more than 100 arrests, Mag Mile trashed

Sweet home, Chicago.

  1. Crazy times. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Chicago, although honestly, I wouldn't have wanted to be before this current madness. Prudence is always called for, but your brother shouldn't have anything to worry about unless he goes looking for trouble. He's coming from DC, right? He knows how it's done then.
