next step: malicious compliance

I'd never heard the term "malicious compliance" before, but when I saw the term in context, I immediately understood what it meant. Malicious compliance is the next step for Canada's truckers as the drawdown from Ottawa begins. The truckers ought to go home, as the police are forcing them to do, and then... do nothing. Hey, the truckers would be complying, right? Something similar is being urged of truckers in the US: stop all deliveries into DC and let the nation's capital feel the pinch. It's a passive form of resistance that will remind people of how important truckers are. From The Epoch Times:

Not Going to Be a ‘Punching Bag’ for the Police: Freedom Convoy Spokesman Announces Peaceful Withdrawal From Ottawa

OTTAWAAs police in Ottawa escalated operations for the second day in a row against the trucker protest opposed to the government’s COVID-19 mandates, a spokesperson for the movement, dubbed the “Freedom Convoy,” called for a peaceful withdrawal, saying they are not going to be a “punching bag for law enforcement.”

Speaking at a press conference at the Lord Elgin Hotel in downtown Ottawa on Feb. 19, retired Canadian military officer Tom Marazzo said many truckers feel that the best course of action for them and their families is to withdraw in order to avoid further harm.

“As a movement, we have chosen to peacefully withdraw from the streets of Ottawa. There is nothing to be gained by being brutalized by police,” Marazzo said.

This doesn't have to be a victory for evil. Malicious compliance is the key, here. I still applaud the truckers for all they've done; they've already sacrificed a lot, but the struggle goes on.
