threw my back out

This was supposed to be an ambitious-walk weekend, but here I am in bed, typing this entry out on a cell phone. I might still go out for a shorter walk tonight, then maybe do an uncharacteristic Sunday walk as well (Sunday is usually a day of rest for me), but right now, I'm not going anywhere because I think I threw out my back last night while jumping rope. I don't know how something like that can even happen, but while I was fatly jumping away, I suddenly felt this strange, meaty click happen in my back, followed by a nasty twinge of pain.

So I'll be in bed the next little while, then later this afternoon, I'll try going out to a print shop to get my book printed. Sometime this evening, I'll try walking if my back allows it. Right now, though, rest seems to be the order of the day. Frustrating.

ADDENDUM: this incident is part of what prompted last night's blog post about jumping rope and strokiness. I'm not saying the aftereffects of the stroke somehow caused me to throw out my back; it's just that the incident put jumping rope in the forefront of my mind. Maybe I'll temporarily switch to another osteogenic exercise like jogging. Or, later, jumping jacks.
