numbers are blowing up for some reason

I can never figure out how or why it is that my site numbers suddenly inflate, but over the past few days, I've seen my stats go from the mid-400 visits per day to over 700 to, now, over 1,000 unique visits. All I can do is sit here and appreciate it when it happens, although now, my real wish is for some of that traffic to translate into book purchases.
