Over at Markandeya, there's a YouTube clip of an extremely heated exchange between Fox's Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera, in which O'Reilly basically goes off the deep end. I watched the clip in disgust. This is American TV? No, scratch that: why should I be surprised?

Now you know why I pretty much stick with cop genres, cooking shows, and the Discovery Channel. Most of what's out there from talk shows to reality t.v. sucks so spectacularly that something that "simply sucks" is just a blip on the radar...
ReplyDeleteHoly crap. I must admit that I haven't really watched much of Bill O'Reilly, but that man is truly insane, isn't he? How can someone like that be on national television? Please tell me he is not the voice of the nation.
ReplyDeleteAnd I never thought I'd find myself agreeing with Geraldo. I remember him as just another sensationalist talk show host, but next to O'Reilly he sounds like a paragon of reason.
"Don't obscure a tragedy to make a cheap political point."
Amen.
(And I pretty much only watch TV for the Discovery Channel and sports. And Hell's Kitchen. Watching Gordon Ramsay curse out poor young cooks is... cathartic (in the emotional sense, not the medical sense).)
