an Aussie on self-publishing

My friend Neil sent me a video of an Aussie lady who self-published her own children's book. Lots of good advice in there, although I noticed she didn't talk about some of the heavy costs I've already incurred along my own journey to self-publishing: $600-ish for ISBNs, $65 copyright-registration fee, etc. It could be that she totally bypassed these costs by relying heavily on her printer's services. I know, for example, that if you upload an e-book on Kindle, Kindle offers its own free ISBN. This could be one of the ways she saved money. Missing information on costs notwithstanding, it's an interesting video, which is why I'm slapping it up here. Watch, enjoy, and take notes if you're interested in self-publishing.

I should say that I find her moniker, MyFreedomEmpire, ironic given that Australia has turned into a monstrous police state. Maybe her screen name is a cry of defiance?
