Nothing's happening quite as anticipated with my homeschooling book: at first, I thought I'd get the movie-review book done first, but the homeschooling book's ms came pouring out of me, and in such situations, you don't ignore the muse. Next, I thought I'd get the e-book version of the homeschooling book out quicker, but the dead-tree version is practically done, and I still haven't totally figured out my e-pub software, anyway. So I'll be printing a short run of maybe 200 dead-tree versions of my book and will be giving a few copies away to interested friends; for everyone else, the cover price of the paperback will be $4.99 given the costs of creating each copy. I'm assuming maybe a $1 or $2 profit off each paperback sold, but to really make a profit, I'll need to sell most or all of the 200 copies I make. Otherwise, I have to eat the cost of printing the short run.
I still have another day of vacation, though, so I'll be devoting tomorrow to figuring out the e-pub software and getting my book online ASAP. Can't guarantee it'll all be ready by the end of tomorrow, but I'll make an announcement about the e-book sometime within the first two weeks of February—still way ahead of my original schedule. More news later.
