Years ago, back when Jim Davis's comic Garfield was actually funny, there was a Sunday strip in which Garfield and his owner Jon were sitting in a park, sharing a rare bonding moment as they quietly ridiculed the passersby. The source of the ridicule was the insight that people tend to resemble their pets, or vice versa.
I saw the perfect example of that tonight as a ridiculously poofy Pekingese trotted by, its nose in the air... followed by a snooty woman in a fur coat, also with her nose in the air. It was hard not to laugh.
