So on Thursday evening, I sent in the official announcement that I was planning to leave. My immediate supervisor wrote back Friday morning to express shock, which shocked me, because my office, like most offices, generally has an efficient rumor mill. My other supervisor didn't write me back... I suspect she already knew my intentions, which I'd never kept secret: all my coworkers in Room 302 are aware of my plans.
I've told my supervisors that I need to talk with them regarding final payment, recovering the pension I've accumulated, etc.; I suppose we'll be doing all that after this current Lunar New Year's break (ten days off, beginning yesterday).
I'll be sad to leave, but I'm also excited about the future.
And I'll be back. Smoo's been good to me.
(Of course, if I find a university that offers similar pay for half the hours...)
