SHOULD ILLEGAL-IMMIGRANT WIVES OF US-MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS RECEIVE SPECIAL IMMIGRATION STATUS?
You may have heard the recent news about the US Marine whose illegal-immigrant wife got deported after 20 years' illegal residence in the States. If you're an anti-Trumper, you'll be outraged (because the media want you outraged) at this latest example of Trump's cruel separation of families, unmindful of the fact that (1) every time any criminal with a family is arrested, he's being separated from his family, and (2) family separations like this have been occurring since at least the Obama administration. If you're not an anti-Trumper, you'll see this situation differently. As GI Korea remarks in the above-linked post:
I feel bad for the kids, but their parents had nearly 20 years to work on her immigration status[,] which leads me to believe there is more to this story.
I agree: there's more going on here. (And besides, aren't anchor babies supposed to anchor you if you're illegal? There's definitely something going on.)
