Ave, Mike!

My buddy Mike offers a touching tribute to a friend—or rather, a member of his extended family—who has just passed away.  (Mike's Scottish Gaelic valediction, Gus am bris an là, comes from the Song of Solomon 4:6.)

Not knowing much about Irish dirges (sorry—I went Irish, not Scottish, Mike), I did a bit of poking around and discovered there are several popular songs at Irish funerals, memorials, and wakes.  Here are two versions of one such song, titled "Carrickfergus" (read about the song's history):


And this one, "She Moved Through the Fair," kind of blew me away:
