A quick update: I went downstairs to the meat seller in the basement of the building where I work and got myself two 300-gram eye-round steaks. Total cost: W38,000. To put this in perspective: I paid nearly W400,000 for a two-kilogram hunk of filet mignon divided roughly into 300-gram steaks. That's W200,000 per kilo, or W100,000 per half-kilo. I just got 600 grams' worth of eye round for W38,000. So, per gram, it's the difference between W200/g for filet and W63/g for eye round. Yes, eye round is a much cheaper cut in Korea, as it is in America. It's still expensive here, though.
ADDENDUM: I'll be prepping my eye-round steaks tomorrow morning, and they'll bathe in the sous vide until Saturday afternoon or evening. I've been thinking that, since I did such a long walk in the middle of the week, I might not do more than a two-hour walk on Saturday, so that should leave me with plenty of time to work on the beef.
And here I thought this was going to be a post on 쌍꺼풀 surgery.
ReplyDeleteI did have to type carefully to make sure I didn't type "round eye."
