Blurb:
Emma Gatewood was the first woman to hike the entire Appalachian Trail alone, as well as the first person—man or woman—to walk it twice and three times[,] and she did it all after the age of 65.
I'm tempted to buy this book. Grandma gives me hope.
A common phrase here is that "age is just a number." Nice to see a grandma proving that.
ReplyDeleteIf I recall, you have to camp out along the way, which means carrying a heavy backpack, too. All the more impressive. If I did a long-distance hike now, I'd want to find a trail where I could book a motel room every night.
As you know from all my previous walks, I mostly motel my way across the country. In 2020, I even figured out a route that didn't require any camping, but the route changes didn't end up feeling worthwhile. So this year, I'll be back to camping!
