Donald Trump is back on Twitter. The mean tweets must flow.

I can't read Trump's mind, but I suspect that he had long intended to come back to Twitter: he was merely waiting for the right time to do so. Interviewing with Tucker Carlson provided that opportunity since the interview happened at Twitter, now called X, which is Carlson's new home after he'd been booted from Fox. In a sense, then, the interview meant "Trump was on Twitter," so it was the perfect moment for the former president to make the leap.
Does this mean Trump will now abandon his own microblogging platform, Truth Social, leaving it to wither and die? I suspect he's going to sync up Truth Social with X so that his posts appear simultaneously in both places. Trump's return to Twitter/X is undoubtedly being met with equal measures of joy and consternation.
He's back, bitches.
