Trump to interview with Tucker instead of debating

Interesting news: Donald Trump has chosen to interview with Tucker Carlson instead of appearing at the Fox-hosted debate this coming Wednesday (US time). The interview is scheduled to air at about the same time as the debate. The video below makes an interesting point: we will all see firsthand which event will be watched more, and that will say something about the relative power of legacy media versus alt-media. Tucker, having left legacy media, is now an alt-media juggernaut, and Trump will be an enormous catch (despite the fact that Carlson's private emails, in which he declared a personal hatred for Trump, leaked a while back). It's very likely that more people will watch Tucker than will watch the debate. So this is probably going to be great news for Trump as he sucks the oxygen from the room.

Here's the thing, though: we've been through four years of a Trump presidency, and while Trump certainly has new policies and priorities up his sleeve, I already know something of how he thinks, and I'm actually more interested in watching how Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy go at each other. Detractors of both of these candidates—candidates who have been jockeying for second and third place in the nomination polls—say that both are compromised in some way, with some calling DeSantis a GOPe shill and Ramaswamy a globalist Soros plant. At the same time, DeSantis has an excellent track record as governor of Florida (except for those pesky housing prices), and Ramaswamy has made clear that his aims and priorities line up mostly with Trump's MAGA agenda. Both of these people are younger and have sharp minds, so I'd like to see how they clash with each other. This may, in fact, be the first time in years that I've been curious to watch any debates. Sure, I'll catch the highlights of Tucker's interview, too: maybe he and Trump can clear the air between them regarding how much Tucker hates Trump.

Meanwhile, here's that video about Trump's intentions:
