I just received an email from the Catholic University of Daegu. It describes the procedure for the next few weeks—visa matters, final document submissions, etc. Bizarrely, it says the fall semester will begin on August 26, but orientation for new profs will be on the 27th. Huh?

Addofio here. I don't know if things work the same way there as at my univ., but we have one start date for professors and another a week later for students. They may be leaving a day for you to settle in to your new digs before putting you through orientation, and classes may begin later. That's how things work here, anyway.
ReplyDeleteGood point. Maybe that's the answer to the mystery.
ReplyDeleteThey meant "reorientation" -- most foreign professors will need that after their first day!
