dropping like flies, now

Super Tuesday is upon us Americans, and the latest casualties in the race for the Democrat nomination are... Amy Klobuchar and Chris Matthews?

True, Chris Matthews is a talking head on the news, not a presidential aspirant, but he apparently just "retired" all of a sudden by reading a statement and essentially walking off the set of his beloved newscast/soapbox "Hardball."

The self-eating, ouroboros nature of the left is well documented. When you're a leftie, you're always worried about being "left enough" or "woke enough." Matthews had injudiciously compared Bernie Sanders's recent electoral victories to the arrival of Hitler in Paris, and even the stupidest leftist knows you don't go Jew-baiting by comparing a Jew to Hitler. (That's what Palestinians do! Heh.) Conservatives actually seem to be shrugging at Matthews's gaffe, probably because they're thinking about the issue in free-speech terms: what the man said was vile, maybe, but it certainly wasn't cause for retirement, resignation, quitting, or whatever this was. The septuagenarian Matthews, who gained infamy for declaring that he felt a "thrill up [his] leg" after hearing a speech by then-President Barack Obama, now faces an uncertain future. I have no doubt, though, that a media loudmouth like him will have little trouble finding work in some niche of today's media, Dan Rather-style, so I can't say I'm worried about his fate. Wake me when Matthews swan-dives off a 100-story building.

As for Amy Klobuchar... all she rates is a bored belch. Klobuchar's electoral fate was written in the stars and whispered by the tea leaves on the day she announced her pro-eco, anti-global-warming campaign in the midst of a snowstorm. Pleasantly bland and utterly unmemorable, Klobuchar never stood a chance, and she has finally allowed wisdom to overtake obstinacy. May she now take some time to rest, lick her wounds, and then once again be about the business of formulating bad economic and social policy.

Klobuchar is now endorsing Joe Biden, as is Pete Buttigieg. How wise our leaders are.
