The boys build a giant blender:
These Aussie antics are very much in the gleefully wasteful (and tacky) American spirit of, say, monster-truck demolition rallies. I've said it before: Aussies have a lot in common with Americans. There's the rebellious/mutinous ways in which our two countries started; there's the relative youth of our countries; there's the energetically optimistic future-orientation of our respective cultures. And personally, I can say there's only one Aussie I thoroughly dislike; otherwise, I've liked every Aussie I've met. They are, all in all, cool people, even if they're a bit self-righteous about gun ownership (lookin' at you Jim Jeffries, ya cunt).
Pronunciation note: Aussies prefer the pronunciation "Ozzie," not "Awssy."
Lots of Aussies in our expat community here, and with just a couple of exceptions, the ones I've met are good guys. Of course, every country has its share of cunts.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I need to learn to start saying "Ozzie." Thanks for the heads up!
"Awssy" is listed as a legit pronunciation at Dictionary.com, but I think that's a non-Aussie pronunciation. Make an Aussie happy by saying the word the Aussie way!
