last COVID-19 message for a while

I'm initiating a month-long moratorium on virusblogging because, to be honest, I think I've said all that can be said about what's happening and how to handle the current reality on a local level. Any further news that we hear about the virus is simply going to involve bigger numbers and more news reports about empty grocery shelves, fistfights between toilet-paper-hoarders, the spread of infection wherever there are high concentrations of humanity, and announcements about movie stars and politicians who have tested positive for COVID-19.

I've already pointed you to various news sources for pandemic-related information, and you've doubtless done your own homework on that score, too. So you're on your own. No more Covidity from yours truly for the next month. I might break my silence if, for example, Clint Eastwood ends up dying from the virus, but it would have to be an Eastwood-level event for me to break my silence on all matters epidemiological. Instead, I'll be back to regular blogging because, after all, I've got a life to live, and I'm not about to live it curled up like a goddamn woodlouse. This is no time for fear. Expect regular blogging.

I left Korea after three years for the USA in September, and really wish I was back there. The people here have completely lost their minds.

Sorry to hear it. I'm seeing varying reports from all over the States: some places are talking about empty shelves and panic buying; others are reporting nothing happening at all. I haven't checked Amazon for the availability of things like toilet paper and survival rations... that ought to make for an amusing exercise.

Toilet paper is the new ammo. You can't have enough.
