where are you on the psychopath spectrum?

Here—watch this video:

So, are you a psychopath? Find out! I scored an 8, although for some of the questions, I wish there had been a "neutral" answer—no feelings either way. The scale is apparently

0-11 low on the psychopath spectrum
12-17 below average
18-22 average
23-28 high
29-33 very high

And there was one question about how you feel when you see an injured/suffering animal that left me a bit confused. I mean, I'm fine watching backyard pests like rats and squirrels and chipmunks get blasted. In those vids, it's a head, spine, or heart/lung shot: the animal thrashes spasmodically because of nervous reflexes, but it's essentially dead the moment it's been shot. There's little to no suffering at all. Compare that to when I recoiled after seeing video footage of a deer that had been injured by a bad hunter: the hunter had aimed poorly, and his rifle shot had taken the deer's lower jaw mostly off. The jaw dangled from the deer's bloody face. That one bothered me, and I was mad at the hunter for being a dumbass. I hope that animal got put down soon after it had been filmed. And faithful readers may recall how taken aback I was by the killing of a particular mountain lion back in 2012 (by which I mean that I saw the video in 2012). If the question is purely about animal suffering, then yes, I'm actually kind of squeamish about that. If it's a question of quickly and humanely dispatching an animal, though, I don't have any problems with that at all.

Sorry for the digression, but that was the one question that really left me scratching my head as to how to answer. Otherwise, I'm happy to know I'm somewhere in the low range.

  1. I'm an 8 as well. All my answers were 0s or 1s except for the last question about when things go wrong, it's not my fault--I agreed with that one (a 2).
