[Read last year's Strokiversary! post here.]
It's now technically Saturday, May 13, which means it's my Strokiversary! Yay! Two years out, and I'm still alive. No further strokes since that last one. No more silly jokes about the stroke of genius, the stroke of insight, or different strokes for different folks. I've learned a ton about weight loss and fitness even if I haven't applied such knowledge all that well. I've been dealing with other medical problems, too; I guess that's just part of getting old. My diabetic toe ulcer is mostly healed, but it's still slow going. I've got some other medical problems that I haven't mentioned on the blog, and I'm way past due to visit a hospital and have a proper endoscopy and polyp-plucking session. Still, I'm alive and chugging along, so at least there's that.
Life goes on as I "move with the flow of the process." Happily, South Korea has mostly dispensed with its pandemic posture even though many Seoul citizens continue to cling illogically to their masks. My boss is warning that, given our various deadline pressures this year, I might not be able to take off a full month to do the Four Rivers walk. If that's the case, I have an alternate route that can be done in three weeks. All in all, I don't have One Big Thing to live for, but I have Lots of Little Things to live for: walking, book projects, cooking, etc. There's still plenty of life to be lived, and joy is in the little things.
Yes, as long as you are breathing, you are still in the game. Add to that list of things to live for all the things you have yet to discover as you continue life's journey.
ReplyDeleteI know it's been mentioned before (maybe by you) that, in some ways, that stroke was a blessing, a wake-up call, if you will. You've made some lifestyle adjustments that will hopefully add years to your life's adventure.
Keep up the good work, and keep writing about the lessons and insights you gain as you move forward!
